Welcome! The Headquarters of Lubavitch UK has been at its present site in Stamford Hill, London N16 since 1959. The original premises were rebuilt and in 1968 the first stage of the new building was opened. The Lubavitcher Rebbe sent a letter for the occasion, of which the following is an extract:
“…This precisely is the basic function of the Lubavitch Centre: To gather Jewish children – children in the plain sense of the word, as well as “children” in terms of knowledge of G-d, His Torah and Mitzvot – in order to reveal their inner soul and true essence, that they should recognise that “You are the children of G-d, your G-d,” and should continue to forge the golden chain of their ancestral tradition to the point of veritable self-sacrifice for the preservation of the Jewish way of life, the way of the Torah and Mitzvot.”
This gives an idea of the focus of Lubavitch as regards the Jewish people: the goals are to increase knowledge, spiritual awareness and dedication to Judaism. In addition, the Rebbe spoke about the responsibility to communicate universal spiritual ideals, as expressed in the Seven Noachide Laws, to all humanity.
In addition to the Offices of Lubavitch UK and the Friends of the Small Communities, the building houses the Kindergarten and the Junior and Senior Girls’ Schools. It is also home for the Lubavitch Lending Library, the Lubavitch Synagogue, daily Adult Education classes and the VISTA vocational training centre.
